A solid area rug with texture
|
Area rugs come in allshapes and sizes, there’s one for every space. They come in all fabrics, textures, colors and patterns.
Area rugs are not accessoriesthey are the foundation of a stylish space.
You should buy the best rug you can afford. Look for goodquality natural materials such as wool and silk. A high-quality wool rug willwear well and even look better over time. Wool has the capacity to develop itsown patina through exposure to light and air and feet walking on it. Sisal, jute and grass rugs often cost less, but are difficult to keep clean and don't lastas long, but consider that they truly look great fora few years.
Thefirst step in arranging a space is determining its size. Use a tape measure toget the dimensions of a room. Always check the dimensions of the hallways, stairs and door widths leading to the space. This is the eternal challenge forthe homeowner. Arrange your furniture before placing the rug. Remember thatyour rug can create cozy entertaining areas and divide spaces, especially in an‘open plan’. When using an area rug in a more traditional space; don’t completely cover the floor, leave atleast 9 inches from the baseboard.
